Kickstarter 101 for Science Creators - Aurora Thornhill

Details
Whether you're a scientist, create science art, or make science tech, amateur or professional, there are great ways for you to use Kickstarter.
During this workshop, you'll get a primer on how to bring your project to life by looking at case studies of past science projects, followed by a Q&A and community brainstorming discussion.
Bring yourself, your idea, and something to take notes with.

Aurora Thornhill is the Science and Exploration Outreach Lead at Kickstarter. She started at Kickstarter almost 4 years ago as a member of the Community Team. Throughout her years at Kickstarter, she’s facilitated creators across all categories in bringing their ideas to life, with a focus on projects in the Technology category. Most recently, her attention has shifted to the needs of the science community. In February, she collaborated with NYU’s ITP and the Citizen Cyberscience Centre (a partnership between CERN, the University of Geneva, and UNITAR) to put on Science x Kickstarter, a weekend long hackathon dedicated to bringing designers, artists, makers and writers together with scientists to collaborate on bringing scientific ideas to life. She's worked closely with numerous science related projects including LightSail (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theplanetarysociety/lightsail-a-revolutionary-solar-sailing-spacecraft?ref=card), OpenTrons (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/932664050/opentrons-open-source-rapid-prototyping-for-biolog?ref=card), and Lunar Mission One (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lunarmissionone/lunar-mission-one-a-new-lunar-mission-for-everyone?ref=card), to ensure their success.
