Join us at BioCurious on March 1, 2026, from 4:00–6:00 pm for an engaging, hands-on Introduction to PCR Workshop. This beginner-friendly class is perfect for anyone curious about biotechnology who wants to learn more and develop new skills! Over the course of two hours, participants will learn the basics of the theory behind PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and practical insights into primer design to ensure a successful and specific amplification reaction. After covering the theory, you’ll step into the lab to run a PCR reaction yourself, then confirm successful DNA amplification by performing gel electrophoresis. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a clear understanding of how PCR works and an introduction to a foundational skill needed to explore more advanced molecular biology techniques. Whether you’re starting your biotech journey or looking to solidify core lab skills, this workshop offers a supportive, collaborative environment to learn by doing.

$40 per participant, and we'll handle payment for the class at the lab (Venmo or cash).

All participants under the age of 18 need to have a parent/guardian present with them at the lab during the class. This parent/guardian doesn't need to pay if they don't want to be a participant, but we encourage you to both sign up and learn together!
