πŸ”₯πŸ₯ΆπŸ₯ž Breathwork, cold plunge, hot protein pancakes, community!

πŸ“… Sat Oct 25 @ 11:30am–1:30pm
πŸ“ Golden Gardens north end of the beach, past the firepits, trees, bathrooms and cafe, near the wetlands. Look for our sign and canopy.
Hosted by Origins Unity, celebrating five years of community practice

A mid day session of breathwork, guided meditation, deliberate cold exposure in Puget Sound, Qi Gong, and a potluck with a curious, health-minded crowd. There will be protein pancakes! πŸ₯ž All activities are optional, coming to connect with each other is what matters.

Why it works

  • Cold water sharply raises norepinephrine and dopamine and activates brown fat. Expect a lasting lift in mood and alertness.
  • Breathwork gives you direct control over your stress response. Different breathing patterns can raise or lower your arousal on demand.
  • Purpose is one of the strongest psychological predictors of a long life. The Fire Within meditation works on that question directly: What lights you up? Why do you do what you do?

Insight might come right away, or it might take ongoing practice. You don't need anything special to happen. Show up, try it, and enjoy the people around you.

Schedule

  1. Meet and greet
  2. Intro, safety and expectations
  3. Yogic breathing (strong, medium and gentle)
  4. Fire Within guided meditation
  5. Group share (time permitting)
  6. Strong yogic breathing
  7. Change into swimsuits (~5–10 min)
  8. Cold plunge in Puget Sound (about 50–55Β°F this time of year)
  9. Qi Gong and natural reheating through movement
  10. Mindset and closing
  11. Social time, vendors and potluck

Safety

  • No breath holds in or near the water. All breathwork happens on land.
  • The plunge is optional. Stay in only as long as feels right.
  • Check with your doctor first if you're pregnant or have a heart condition, high blood pressure, Raynaud's, or a seizure history.
  • Please read the disclaimer & liability waiver before attending.

What to bring

  • Warm layers, and dress warmer than you think you need
  • A swimsuit worn under your clothes
  • 1–2 towels and a full change of warm, dry clothes
  • Beanie, gloves, warm socks
  • Water shoes or sandals for the rocks
  • A mat or chair
  • A dish to share for the potluck

Donation: $10 suggested. No one is turned away for lack of funds. You can also contribute by bringing food to share. The most helpful thing you can do is invite friends πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ
