Biomedical Data Science

This group is hosted by ICBI, the Innovation Center for Biomedical Informatics at Georgetown. Example topics we will discuss include: Clinical/medical implications of Genome Sequencing on a very large scale (Thousand Genomes project etc.) , Cloud computing for translational biomedical research, microRNA and other non-coding RNA as a new generation of biomarkers for diseases and drug discovery, GWAS (genome- wide association study), Natural Language Processing and other computer technologies for managing and data mining of clinical information (electronic health records), how genomics mutations affect protein function, etc.
