Mindful Birding Event
Kachina Wetlands
Tuesday May 13, 8:00-9:30 a.m.
This event is full-please contact Eliot to be added to a future Mindful birding event at a date TBD.
Come join us for an experience of Mindful Birding at Kachina Wetlands. We will practice using our connection with and direct experience of birds to keep ourselves centered in present moment awareness. This will be very different from a traditional Audubon Bird Walk, as we will not be focused on identifying or educating about individual bird species or creating an Ebird checklist. Part of our time will be spent with eyes closed and/or in silence (except hopefully for some bird songs), as we engage in mindfulness practices. Birds can be great guides and allies, helping us maintain present moment awareness, which can bring benefits such as reduced stress or anxiety and enhanced feelings of peace and overall well-being.
Kachina Wetlands has no drinking water or bathroom facilities. We will be covering about 1 mile on relatively flat and smooth dirt paths throughout the activity. Participants are encouraged to bring hats, sunscreen, water and binoculars.
This free event will be limited to a small group size with pre-registration required. Please e-mail [eliotschipper@yahoo.com](mailto:eliotschipper@yahoo.com) to secure your spot and receive final details about the meet-up.
