Bird Walk │ Walnut Canyon Lakes

Join us at Walnut Canyon Lakes for a relaxing morning of birding! This is a great place to observe waterfowl up close and other wintering species before migration hits, as well as the earliest migrants starting to arrive. This trip is perfect for beginners to see Canada Goose, Cinnamon Teal, Northern Shoveler, American Wigeon, Common Merganser, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Black Phoebe, Western Bluebird, White-crowned Sparrow, and Great-tailed Grackle.

Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026
Time: 8:00 – 11:00 AM
Meeting Point: Meet at 8:00 AM at the north end of the ponds where parking is available.
Directions: Take Exit 201 from I-40 and drive south on N Country Club Dr. Turn left onto E Old Walnut Canyon Dr and pull off at the first available parking next to the ponds.

What to Bring: Binoculars (if you have them), water, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and warm layers.
About the Location:
This walk follows an easy 1-mile paved loop around the ponds, offering excellent views of waterfowl and shoreline birds. No bathrooms are available on site.
