Bird Walk | Little Spring, Fort Valley Flagstaff

Join us for a spring birding outing to Little Spring, a small but productive water source that often attracts migrating birds looking for a drink and rest. Wrens, flycatchers, and warblers may all stop by during migration, making this a great place to sit quietly and watch the action. We’ll take an easy walk along a short section of road and trail through a meadow to reach the spring.

Date: Friday, April 10, 2026
Time: 8:00 AM – 10:00 or 11:00 AM
Meeting Point: Humphreys Peak Lookout parking lot (35.26448753963291, -111.70479475099084)

Directions: The parking lot is located off Highway 180 just outside Fort Valley, before Snowbowl Road. We will meet here at 8:00 AM and carpool to Little Spring.

What to Bring: Binoculars, water, layers for changing mountain weather, sturdy walking shoes, and something small to sit on if you’d like to relax and watch birds at the spring.

About the Location: Little Spring (when flowing) is an excellent stop for migrating birds. The walk is short and easy, following a section of road and then a short trail through a meadow to the spring. If the road is closed or the area is undergoing logging, we will instead bird the Kendrick Park Watchable Wildlife Trail nearby.
