The Bi Book Club meets once a month to discuss bi-themed books and the issues they raise. Dinner after nearby-we usually go to Village Den on Greenwich Ave behind the Center.
Our book for Oct is a memoir, Call It Wonder: an odyssey of love, sex. spirit, and travel by Kate Evans, on sale at BGSQD, or can be ordered if they run out.
Pick out some phrases, paragraphs or scenes that you'd like to discuss. Give us your critique of the book. What worked, what didnt, how was bisexuality represented? If you havent had time to finish the readings, come anyway because we read passages from the book aloud for discussion. As usual, we'll also be using the text as a jumping off point to further discussion of bisexual issues and personal experiences.
Deciding Books: We will be voting on what books we want to read next, so check the list of Bisexual Book Award finalists (http://www.biwriters.org/book-award-finalists-winners/) or 2015 bi books (http://www.biwriters.org/book-awards-submissions/) for some ideas.
Venue: Bureau of General Services Queer Division (http://bgsqd.com/) Bookstore at the LGBT Center, 2nd fl. Rm. 210, phone (646) 457-0859.
Getting Books: We urge you to purchase your print copy at BGSQD and support the only LGBT bookstore in New York City. Especially since they are hosting us in their space! If they are out of stock, put in your special order.
Bi Book Club meets 4th Thursdays 6:30-8pm. Nov & Dec dates will not be on 4th Thurs due to the holidays--alternative dates in Nov & Dec are being scheduled. Dinner after nearby-we usually go to Village Den on Greenwich Ave behind the Center.
Fees: Donation to help pay rent
