DIY BioLab: A visit from the UiO iGEM team + strawberry DNA extraction

Interested in biology and biotechnology? This evening members of the UiO team of students competing in iGEM (international Genetically Engineered Machine competition) 2016 will give a presentation about their project concerned with developing methods of detecting antibiotic resistance in bacteria, a topic of importance for medical treatment of bacterial infections. Afterwards, we will perform a quick (~10 min) extraction of crude DNA from strawberries using only household products. Come see DNA with your own eyes, and enjoy some leftover strawberries if you like.
