CODE SWITCHING. MICROAGGRESSIONS. SCAPEGOATING. Let's face it- thriving in the workplace as black professional can be challenging.... and being isolated (most common in the Bay Area) only heightens those challenges. That's why the African American Employee Network ("AAEN") and Onyx Community Connection ("Onyx") have launched the first of a series of important conversations focused on black excellence with radical authenticity- or how to thrive professionally while being ourselves.

This conversation provides a safe space for participants to gain inspiration from our esteemed panel that show the courage to express themselves throughout their career. It is also a forum for participants to share their stories and feelings, deepen their understandings of their coping mechanisms, and gain skills to thrive personally and professionally in 2019.

We will cover topics such as respectability politics in the workplace, the role of employee resource groups, microaggressions, personal branding, workplace toxicity, code-switching, mental health, and speaking ones’ truth.

A portion of proceeds will benefit PG&E Black ERG Student Scholarship fund.
