Join us for our 1st event of the London Summer Season & our first late evening event this June!

- We are pleased to invite you all for an evening out at the iconic Southbank Centre- the heart of culture and music in central London
- The venue is in a prime location, at the centre of tourist attractions such as Big Ben, Parliament and the London Eye. The perfect setting to stroll in before retreating for our pre-show drink (at the official Rooftop Picnic Gardens or Concrete Cafe, subject to weather and availability)
- The Chineke! Orchestra are the first-ever professional music orchestra in Europe that is made up of talent from Black and diverse backgrounds that debuted in the Southbank back in 2015. The evening's Classical music Concert will continue to bridge tradition and innovation in music.
It begins with 'African Suite' by Fela Sowande (1905-1987), blending African rhythms with Western forms.
Next, Kinoshi’s Handpan Concerto premieres in London, featuring Chineke!’s percussionist Rosie Bergonzi.
The evening concludes with 'Richter’s Vivaldi Recomposed', featuring violinist Elena Urioste."As a whole, these performances create an unforgettable evening that transcends boundaries and celebrates the rich tapestry of global music." -Southbank
Purpose:
To enjoy and experience percussion & classical music straight from a World Famous Orchestra with musicians of Black and diverse backgrounds. This event will fulfill our 'Social Season' pledge (significant or large-scale entertainment events), as well as our 'Arts & Culture' pledge category.Schedule:
5-5.30pm- Meet at meeting point (St Thomas' Riverside Garden by fountain/benches, to the right of St Thomas' Hospital main entrance)
5.30-5.50pm- Stroll along the tourist sights of the Westminster/South Bank Riverside
5.50-6.50pm- Pre-Show Picnic Drinks at the Queen Elizabeth Hall's Rooftop Cafe (dependent on weather/availability) or Riverside/Concrete Cafe
6.55-.7.25pm- Queen Elizabeth Concert hall entrance in Southbank Centre
7.30-9.30pm- Concert timeDress code:
