Take a Hike! ...with Black Philadelphia!

Join the crew for a hike the Mt. Misery Trail at the historic Valley Forge Park. Don't let the name scare you.

Agenda - Take Note!

9:45 a.m. - Meet and Greet at the parking lot. Park on the grass or on the little road if necessary.
10:00 a.m. - WE ARE LEAVING! Not kidding...don't miss us!
11:30 a.m. - End of hike (approximately)

We're going to take the party to Valley Forge National Park! We'll cross a historic wooden bridge, check out an abandoned bottling plant (briefly), pass a dam, and enjoy being outdoors. It is called Mt. Misery for a reason...the initial uphill climb sucks, so feel free to bring a hiking pole if you have one! It does get better.

THIS EVENT IS CONTINGENT UPON THE WEATHER & MAY BE CANCELLED SHOULD THERE BE LIGHTNING

A Fun Challenge

If you're looking for a fun challenge, this is it! Nature will be all over you by the time we're done.

This is a great event to talk and get to know other members.

WARNING: Our hike is not a flat-terrain walk like the path along Kelly Drive; this is a hike. The trails are hilly and will take us into wooded areas, so I wouldn't recommend this for someone with serious joint problems.

Wear sturdy hiking boots/sneakers or regular sneakers with good traction. Hiking pole is helpful but not required.

I don't want to leave a fallen warrior behind, but I will! That first hill is brutal and I won't have the energy to drag you out...

Also suggested is a bottle of water and sunscreen. Bug spray and a hat/scarf are also helpful, but not usually necessary. Bring your EpiPen or inhaler too (better safe than sorry). FOR THOSE WITH BIG HAIR: BRAID OR TIE YOUR HAIR DOWN...I've had an 8-legged hitchhiker once land on my hair and try to come home with me.

Leave the makeup and cologne at home, because we are going to sweat. This area has tons of gravel and rocks, and an incline that will get you to feel the burn.

This is a quiet area that is frequented by the joggers and hikers. Just be aware of your surroundings.

Park in the parking lot.

By RSVP'ing, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Black Everywhere - Philadelphia Group Organizers, Co-Organizers, Asst. Organizers, Event Organizers, and/or Host(s) for any injuries, damages, or liabilities incurred before, during, or after event.
