Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan

Details
Hey Blind Book people!
The book for October will be Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan, and if that title sounds vaguely familiar (hopefully not too familiar as this is the blind book club), it's because as you may recall I'm trying out a new variant of the book picking system using the "Most Read" books on Amazon -- Amazon spies on people and determines whether people are actually reading and getting all the way through the books and so I was curious whether these books really are more engaging. The downside is that there's a lot of overlap with bestsellers which increases the odds you've heard of the book. I haven't heard of this book so I went ahead and picked it. And it should be widely available at libraries and bookstores and everywhere you get books -- the last two books were only available on Amazon and we've had three now (I think) like that, and it's a problem with using Amazon to pick books -- it's fun to go off the beaten path but Amazon's selection is so huge it's easy to go so far off the beaten path that the books aren't available anywhere else. It looks like this system won't be something we can use every month because Amazon only gives 20 books per week (x2 for fiction and non-fiction -- we allow non-fiction books as long as they have a narrative structure) -- the books change very slowly (an interesting fact in and of itself) and lots of books that have been out for years (like the Harry Potter books) are still on the lists. So going forward, we'll be mixing these "most read" books with "off the beaten path" books. We'll also be reading a series at some point (this is just a 'heads up'), because SO many books are part of a series and we'd be missing out on a great experience, I think, if we didn't, but I haven't figured out how that would work yet.
Location is TBD because we're going to stop using Sunken Gardens Park and use an indoor location for October. Watch this event for the location to get added.
