Alex Alden: Using Blockchain to Better Serve Refugees
Details
NONGO, a decentralized application designed by Alex Alden and Mike Zuckerman, aims to support refugees in Uganda in a meaningful way without the bureaucracy and centralized authority of traditional NGOs.
How might we move away from the traditional aid model to a fully transparent and decentralized model? How do we build trust through distributed systems? How might we directly connect refugee innovators to funding opportunities? Drawing from her experience building the UN World Food Programme's Building Blocks system, Alex will help us explore the potential for blockchain to play a role in decentralizing authority , increasing transparency and empowering refugees to drive innovation.
