2020 is coming to a close and for many it’s a time to reflect and create goals for the year to come. As we look back on the year, we will think about what we did well, areas we’d like to improve, and what we should keep and what we should leave behind. This has been a year of challenges, resilience, and new normals, this event will help you set a positive tone in time for the start of 2021.

Join Irina Demchenko (Meetup’s Community Support team and organizer of With Stillness: Meditations for Self-Exploration Meetup group) for a live session on how to mindfully approach New Year’s intention setting through meditation and journaling. Irina will lead a guided meditation with breathing techniques and journaling prompts for self reflection and to help you come up with a list of realistic, mindful, and fulfilling intentions.

Top Q&A and Resources:

  • How do I free myself from the fear that someone may see what I write?
    • Take good care of your journal. One thing you can do is to rip out a page or you can burn it. No one has to see it.
  • What do you do when you’re too busy to do these exercises?
    • I think that we can always find a few minutes even if it’s just 5. I know that sometimes we’re incredibly busy but you can set a reminder for yourself. It might just look like waking up 5 minutes earlier or staying up 5 minutes more.
  • What does it mean to give your feeling space?
    • It means that sometimes we push away the things that we are feeling. If we are feeling anger, we hide it. What would it look like to sit for a moment and allow yourself to feel angry? Give that feeling some room.
