Top Q&A Questions & Resources:

  • Will we be able to still schedule and maintain events on the regular desktop app?
    • That’s a great question, and the answer is you will definitely still be able to schedule, edit, and manage events on the desktop–that’s not going anywhere. This app is really just meant for those who want to use your phone to quickly schedule an event or manage events more on the go. We are still putting a lot of resources into improving the desktop experience as well.
  • Is the app for all organizers, co-organizers, and assistant organizers?
    • The answer is it’s for anyone who’s on the leadership team. So basically, if you own the group you can log in, if you are a co-organizer or assistant organizer you can log in, then you can also edit events. Now the caveat is you have to be on the leadership team so if you are an event host, I don’t believe you have access to it but if anyone has thoughts about that we would love to hear your feedback.
  • What’s the difference between the current app and this new app?
    • I’ll try to summarize. Using the original Meetup app, you can still manage groups and events and we have a lot of features there. But this new app, Meetup for Organizers, is really meant for organizers to focus on event management. The new app has everything you need for managing events–like the original Meetup app–but we also added the ability to add or change event hosts, we added the ability to use rich text formatting, and you can create events that are repeating and you can set event fees. All of these features are not currently on the original app so we thought those would be good to add. There are so many more features that we want to add to the app but right now that’s the summary.
