Top Q&A Questions and Resources:
- What are the best dating apps for those 60+?
- So if you’re 60 and above, Bumble is amazing, Match.com is great, and OkCupid is okay but I would say Bumble and Match are my favorites.
- Why do I get suggested matches on the apps that don’t meet my criteria and why do people reach out to me whom I’m clearly not a match for?
- All the apps have algorithms at work and they are trying their best to figure out what you like based on who you’re choosing. But their matches are not always going to be on the mark. Try to go with the flow; it’s no big deal if it’s not a match. You’re probably a hot ticket, and you’re going to get a lot of messages from people. Some of them won’t be your cup of tea, which is totally fine. It’s all about your attitude: keep smiling and moving forward.
- What if you’re not comfortable meeting in person for a while?
- I work with a lot of introverts. Here’s what I would suggest. You can start with a FaceTime date or a Zoom date. You can really get a feeling of the vibe on a video call much better than on a phone call. See if this is someone who you feel any sort of connection with, and then you can practice. Go on a bunch of 20-minute practice Zoom or FaceTime dates until you start to build up some confidence to go on those in-person dates.
- Can you share some tips for dating after divorce, like how and when to start dating?
- I can deeply relate to that and there’s no one answer for this. I think everyone’s looking for a timeline for when you’re allowed to date again. It depends on your healing and your level of healing. By the way, we’re all in some continuum of healing, so you don’t have to wait until you’re fully healed. I would say, look inward and examine that a bit before you start dating. But if you’re curious, go on a few fun dates to meet some people. You might end up going back on your shelf for a while after that but why not try it out?
