Details
Loving–kindness and compassion are the basic desires for happiness and freedom from suffering. Even simple experiences—like shifting the body to a more comfortable position—are manifestations of loving-kindness and compassion. Though they may not always be expressed skillfully, these qualities are present in each moment. Once we recognize them in our own experience, we can nurture these qualities in ourselves. In time, we can extend our impulse to be happy and free from suffering to all beings. In our next curriculum session, we will continue to deepen the spark of loving kindness and compassion, which was so apparent in the thoughtful discussions we had last week.
