Mindfulness is a tool we can use in our daily lives to act in a more ethical way.

We practice mindfulness meditation so that it comes naturally in stressful times. Join us as we sit (on chairs) and breathe (just the way it comes naturally) and listen to the words of Thich Nhat Hanh, one of the world’s best-known teachers of mindfulness.

Baltimore Painted Screen: A Unique Folk Art

This platform will be delivered in hybrid format, which means you can attend the platform via Zoom or in person at the Impact Hub Baltimore. Masks are optional.

I will be presenting a history of the painted screen in Baltimore. This includes showing examples of the art form and giving brief bios of some of the characters who were early screen painters. If time permits I will also discuss current painters, materials and techniques.

Biography, Michael Seipp:
I was born (1951) and raised in Baltimore City. I grew up in the Belair Edison community. I went to Roman Catholic schools through college. I was blessed to have social activist parents and learned the art of door knocking, sign making and forming colorful picket lines. My family had a fish store on Highlandtown and I used to ride my bike through east Baltimore to work at the store. I often was taken by the painted screens I rode past. After college I worked in the field of community development with various non-profits and government entities. In 2006 I started drawing as a hobby. Eventually I started painting screens as my drawings became somewhat presentable. I am now retired and play with grandkids, golf, garden, paint and resist.
