In 1989 Bill McKibben issued his well read but little heeded book "The End Of Nature" abut the coming climate crisis. His latest book "Here Comes the Sun" offers humankind a path toward a livable future, by greatly reducing the climate-and health harm from our continued use of coal, oil, and gas.
The title also recalls George Harrison's song seeing hope and light during a difficult time.
The presentation will draw from McKibben's new book and other sources including my own experience. These will illustrate the issues and opportunities as well as the dead ends to avoid.
Bio: Rich Reis has a life-long interest in science and engineering. He refined his knowledge at Stony Brook, Cal State, and Hopkins to bolster his career and advocacy for environmentally appropriate technology. Rich has been a member of an ethical society for 50 years, most recently with our Baltimore Society. He advocates with the Earth Ethics Action Team of the Washington society and through his roles with the Sierra Club.
