David Teachout

Description:
Where does the question of right and wrong as it relates to morality come from? How does an understanding of human consciousness and the structures of human psychology inform our moral intuitions? In this presentation, we’ll explore an introduction to these questions and touch on topics including: the connection between species and a naturalistic ethic, how bias or cognitive heuristics shape our ethical intuitions, the epistemic limits that consciousness highlights, and how we lie to ourselves about complicated issues by actually answering simple questions.
