What we're about

Our events in the coming months are all going to be on shaky grounds. I will be keeping an eye on the COVID-19 situation and canceling events with a fairly low threshold if I don't like the way the graphs look. If you're up for board gaming I believe your best bet is to get in touch with your friends and people from this group and going to Café Boargame on your own.

Welcome board gamers! Come and play board games with us! We meet once a week in downtown Helsinki to play games. We do break from the schedule below sometimes (e.g. when venues are closed) so keep an eye on our event calendar (https://www.meetup.com/board-games-helsinki/events/calendar/) for the latest information:

── Odd Numbered Weeks ──

• All regular events on Thursdays at Oluthuone Kaisla have temporarily been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.

• Friday at 6 PM in Café Boardgame: Rīchi mahjong hosted by Anne-Mari from Café Boardgame or if she's busy: no host/self-organized. (Event frequency reduced due to COVID-19 concerns.)

── Even Numbered Weeks ──

• Friday at 6 PM in Café Boardgame: regular board gaming event hosted by Jose.

We are a casual group so people come and go over the evening. It doesn't matter if you can't make it at exactly 6 PM but be ready to wait for up to 45 minutes for the next game if you come in after 7 PM. We tend to play fairly casual games that take 15–90 minutes to play but occasionally we have one or more heavier games that play for longer.

Additionally we sometimes do escape rooms and other fun things in Helsinki. These are sometimes unannounced, so check back often to secure your spot!

Rīchi Mahjong at Café Boardgame

Café Boardgame

€4.00

Japanese Mahjong at Café Boardgame every Friday! You are welcome to join us even if you have not played Mahjong before, we will teach you the rules. There are two sets of tiles provided by the café so preferably there would be exactly 4 or 8 people interested in playing (4 per game). Anne-Mari from Café Boardgame will be hosting this event if she isn't busy, otherwise this is a self-organized event. Please pay the 4 € fee at the counter when you arrive. (Special offer for open groups like ours, cash/credit/debit.) Note that we are starting at 17:00 instead of the usual 18:00. Our general board gaming event starts at the same venue at 18:00 on odd weeks. The café's fee is not event specific so you do not need to pay again to also join that event. We occasionally have 1–4 people from University of Helsinki's Yama association joining us. Go check them out: http://yama.fi/
