ONLINE Earth

Tonight, we are returning to Earth on Board Game Arena, highly rated on BGG, and one of my personal favorites. Playing time is 45 - 90 minutes.

In Earth, you get to work on building your own ecosystem. As you develop your ecosystem, you get more and more ways to score points and grow your ecosystem into a beautiful nature reserve!

Each player starts the game with their own tableau on which you have personal island, ecosystem and climate cards. These cards determine your starting resources and give you certain bonuses. You always start with a number of Earth cards in your hand. You can play these later in your tableau.

During your turn, you may always choose from one of 4 possible actions. Each action gives you a different bonus. Examples are: playing cards in your tableau, taking cards, taking soil (a kind of currency), growing trees or taking sprouts. Apart from you being allowed to perform the action, all other players may also perform a weaker variant of the action.

When one of the players has filled the tableau, all players up to the starting player have their turn. After this, the game ends and you add up all the points. The player with the most points wins the game!

There is now an expansion for Earth, called Abundance.
Some key points regarding the expansion:
1 - maximum player count increases from 5 to 6.
2 - addition of Seed Tokens. A seed can be germinated at any time to be convert into 2 Soil, 2 Growth, 3 Sprouts, 3 Compost from the draw pile, or 4 Compost from their hand.
3 - in the expansion, if a player should gain Sprouts and does not have Flora with available Sprout spaces, the Sprouts may be stored on their Abundance board. If a player gains Sprouts as a result of a card ability activated by an opposing player, the Sprouts are immediately placed on their Abundance board, regardless of whether or not the player has available Sprout spaces in their tableau.
4 - more Player Interaction. Some cards simultaneously grant resources for you and your opponents, while others capitalize on the cards in your neighbor’s tableau.
5 - Search and Gain feature. At any time, simply return one Seed token to the supply and announce one card feature. Next, take the draw pile and turn it faceup so the bottom card is faceup on top of the deck. Make sure other players can see this card. Starting with the topmost card, check each card one at a time for the feature that you’ve chosen. You must take the first Non-Event card that matches that feature and place it in your hand. All other cards that were checked must be put into the discard pile.
6 - Team Mode feature (we will NOT be playing this online).

Each game of Earth (with Abundance) can be played by 2-6 players. We will break into multiple groups to allow all who want to play to join in.
