Find your people! Each month, we'll open our doors to creatives to come and share their latest inspired works in a friendly, encouraging environment. At the end of each session, we'll announce a "Spark!" word to inspire your next creation. The following month, we'll meet again to share everyone's interpretation of our "Spark!" word and enjoy seeing everyone's take on the same word.
Our randomly chosen Spark word for January's meeting is BRIDGE. Please bring something inspired by this word. We encourage you to create something new, however, you are welcome to bring something you've made before if you don't get a chance to make something special for the event. All mediums are welcome, from visual art and written works to music and movement, all ages and experience levels, too. Our goal is to provide the opportunity for our creative community to thrive and feel connected.
Please RSVP by signing up for this event so that we can plan accordingly each month. This is a free event, however, small donations are always welcome to help support our programs. All funds donated go directly to our Art Start fund, and 100% of this fund is used to provide scholarships for those who would otherwise not be able to participate and paid opportunities for artists in (y)our community.

Around age 10 or so, kids reach the stage in their creative development when realism is the gold standard, and even kids with the strongest support may decide that art isn't their thing, simply because they don't have the skills and knowledge to render more accurate imagery.
Our after-school program for 10-12 year-olds focuses on creative projects and learning that will help them embrace the creative journey, rather than run from it. Our experienced and professional art educators will facilitate customized projects in various mediums each week, with a focus on abstract/non-representational artists, as well as gaining more advanced skills. Students are encouraged to attend weekly, however, students are welcome to attend occasionally, as they are able. Mediums/skills may include any of the following on any given day: drawing, acrylic painting, watercolor painting, collage, mosaics, pottery (in our Cat Clay studio), fiber arts, oil pastels, printmaking, cyanotypes, sculpture, mixed-media, etc.
For most class days, your child will leave with a project. However, some days we will focus more on experiential art and learning about art in ways that will not produce a final artwork. Some projects may also be group projects that the students will work on as a team. Everyday will be something new!
Students should be dropped off and picked up within 15 minutes of class start and end.
Items to bring each day:
- Layered clothing (suitable for paint and similar messy materials)
- Spill-proof water bottle
- Non-messy snack, if neededAges 10-12 are welcome! Registration is $35. Register here: https://www.catalystartscollaborative.com/service-page/after-school-art-age-10-12-wed-4-30pm
