Beginner Still Life Drawing

In this class, you will learn about and practice creating accurate lines, forms, values and shapes using vine charcoal, newsprint, and drawing paper.

Each lesson will focus on a unique topic, including but not limited to: accurate foundational lines, values, multiple objects, drapery, soft and sharp edges, and organic and man-made shapes. For each class the instructor will provide a still life setup to learn from structured to that day’s lesson.

As a group, we will learn from each other by sharing our work and discussing our challenges in brief critique. These still life drawing studies create muscle memory to more accurately draw objects without reference, allowing for an easier creative flow; practice makes progress!
