Boulder Lake Loop Trail McCall | Backpacking
Details
We will navigate to the trailhead using the “get directions” option in the AllTrails app. I can send you a PM and link with the directions if you don’t have the AllTrails app.
Let’s explore Boulder Lake near McCall September 12–13.
This will be a beginner-to-intermediate backpacking trip. You don’t need to be an expert, just self sufficient. There won’t be anyone checking your gear ahead of this hike, so please make sure you are prepared with all the necessities you will need to take care of yourself in the wilderness overnight. Everyone is responsible for themselves and their gear.
Trip Details:
• September 12-13
• Approximately 7 miles round trip
• Approximately 1600 feet of elevation gain
• Alpine lake destination
• Beginner to Intermediate difficulty
• Moderate effort
Saturday Morning:
We’ll meet at the trailhead at 7:00 AM and begin hiking in together. We’ll make every effort to stay together as a group, so please honestly assess your fitness level and abilities before signing up. The goal is to maintain a comfortable, moderate pace for the group while still allowing everyone to enjoy the experience.
Please also download a trail/navigation app of your choice and have it ready to use offline. While we plan to hike together, everyone should be prepared to navigate independently in the event the group needs to separate for any reason.
For those coming from Boise who would rather not make the early morning drive, there is dispersed camping near the trailhead. You are welcome to drive up Friday evening and camp near the trailhead before we meet Saturday morning.
Transportation:
Carpooling is encouraged, but everyone is responsible for their own transportation to and from the trailhead.
If you arrange a carpool with another participant, please coordinate directly with that person and make sure you have a backup plan if needed.
Saturday:
We’ll hike into Boulder Lake, set up camp, and have the rest of the day to relax, day hike, enjoy the scenery, cold plunge 🤷♀️ and get to know each other.
Sunday:
We’ll enjoy the morning at the lake, break camp, and hike back to the trailhead.
Weather:
September mountain weather can change quickly. Come prepared for all weather conditions, including rain, wind, cold temperatures, and changing conditions overnight.
Don’t pack for the weather you hope we’ll have—pack for the conditions we could actually encounter.
Important:
Although this is a shorter backpacking route, this is still a backcountry trip. Participants should be comfortable carrying a loaded backpack over uneven mountain terrain and be prepared to manage their own food, water, shelter, clothing, and personal safety.
Disclosure:
This is a community-organized activity and not a professional guiding service. I am not a certified guide, backpacking instructor, or outdoor professional. I’m simply organizing an opportunity for people who enjoy the outdoors to get together and experience the mountains.
Everyone is responsible for their own transportation, preparedness, equipment, fitness level, food, water, navigation, and personal safety.
Backpacking and outdoor recreation involve inherent risks, including changing weather, wildlife, difficult terrain, injury, illness, and other unexpected conditions. Please know your abilities, prepare appropriately, and participate at your own discretion.
I’m looking forward to getting out in the mountains and meeting new friends!
