Cervidae Peak | Hard | Fast Paced
Details
This is a challenging, steep hike with significant elevation gain packed into a short distance. It is intended for experienced, fit hikers who are comfortable maintaining a fast pace on steep terrain.
Cervidae Peak is one of the four Grand Slam peaks in the Valley, and this one is a serious climb.
Hike Details:
• Distance: approximately 4.5 miles
• Elevation Gain: approximately 1,900 feet
• Pace: Fast
• Difficulty: Hard
• Trail: Fully exposed
• Goal: Complete the hike in under 2 hours
The climb is steep and sustained, so please don’t underestimate this hike because of the relatively short mileage. Breaks will be limited and brief.
Please bring:
• Plenty of water
• Hiking shoes or boots with good traction
• Snacks/electrolytes as needed
• Swimming suit for a cold plunge afterwards
• Layers appropriate for changing conditions
• Anything else you personally need to stay comfortable and safe
The summit and exposed sections can be windy, and conditions can change quickly. Please come prepared and know your personal limits.
Transportation:
Everyone is responsible for their own transportation to and from the trailhead. If you choose to carpool with another participant, please coordinate those arrangements directly.
Group Expectations:
We’ll start together, but participants may separate based on individual fitness and pace. This is a fast-paced hike, and the group will not be stopping frequently.
Optional Cold Plunge:
For anyone interested, I’m planning to cool off with a cold plunge in the lake afterward. Bring whatever you need if you’d like to participate. This is completely optional.
Disclosure:
This is a community-organized activity and not a professional guiding service. I am not a certified guide or outdoor instructor—I’m simply someone who enjoys outdoor activities and organizing opportunities for active people to connect outdoors.
