Looking to connect across cultures and languages in a relaxed, welcoming setting?

We're excited to host a special pop-up edition of the Boise Weekly Language Exchange at the 2026 Northwest Conference on Resettlement (hosted by the Idaho Office for Refugees)!

Whether you're a regular attendee at our weekly events or are brand new to the group, this special one-time exchange is a great opportunity to connect with refugees, resettlement professionals, community members, and language lovers from across the region. Please come join us if you can!

How it works:

This exchange will be a bit more casual and fluid than our usual weekly events. We'll gather in small conversation groups based on the languages represented... such as Spanish, French, German, Arabic, English, or whatever else shows up!

As always, all levels from welcome - from beginner to native speaker. That said, since there's no formal instruction, a basic conversational level (or a willingness to listen and learn) will help you get the most out of the event.

We especially welcome speakers of less commonly represented languages who might not always find a table at our regular events. This would be a great chance to connect with others who speak or are learning that same language!

How to join us:

  1. RSVP to the event here AND fill out this short form with your name by Friday, Jan 30 to secure your spot (no walk-ins allowed due to conference guidelines),
  2. On the day of the event, check in at the conference registration table in the JUMP 1st floor lobby to receive your conference badge.
  3. Then head to the 5th floor JUMP room to join the exchange!

We'll likely have a quick name tag station upstairs so you can label the language(s) you speak or want to practice.

Although we encourage everyone to arrive as close to the 4:30 PM start time as possible (we'd love to make a strong group growing :-), you're welcome to arrive anytime during the 4:30-6:30 PM window. Just make sure you check in at registration first.

Please note: this is the final session of the conference day, and the building will close shortly after our event wraps up.
