What we’re about
If you were born in the Baby Boomer years (between 1946 and 1964) or even before or after and enjoy finding other people with similar interests to participate in the many events in Greater Greenville, this is the Meetup for you!
Perhaps you would like to attend a play, see a movie, go for a walk, or meet friends over dinner. We have many different events each month and hope you will find one or more of them that interest you. We are a friendly, active and welcoming group and are always happy to have new members.
Some general guidelines for Boomers events and members:
1.) Boomers will not post any political event. We will also not post any event that can be considered offensive or divisive to members.
2.) Abusive or offensive actions and language (either verbal or in writing) by members will not be tolerated and may lead to removal from Boomers.
3.) For security purposes, new and existing members must have a recent photo and use their actual name (first name is adequate) in their Boomer profile. This will make it easier to recognize each other at events.
4.) Members may be removed from Boomers if they are a 'no-show' to 3 or more events that they signed up for.
5.) Members will be removed from Boomers if they have not signed onto the website within six months. You are welcome to rejoin the meetup group at any time in the future should you have a renewed interest in our activities.
The ‘Boomers Connect in Upstate SC’ Meetup group does not officially collect dues through the Meetup website. We prefer to have a voluntary donation system. You can give your Event Host or one of the Organizers your contribution at any event. We have no set minimum but recommend $5.00 annually. This helps us pay for the annual fee we are charged by Meetup.com as well as incidentals of running the group.
We hope you will decide to join us and we look forward to meeting you at one of our many enjoyable events!

In Commemoration of KristallnachtThis special screening of The Ring is hosted in remembrance of Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Glass,” when Nazi-led violence on November 9–10, 1938 marked a devastating escalation against Jewish communities across Germany and Austria.
By honoring this history, we recognize the courage of those who resisted hate — and the resilience of those who rebuilt their lives and families in its aftermath.
We’re deeply moved by the community’s response — over 50 tickets have already been sold for this event. Seats are filling quickly, and we don’t want you to miss this powerful evening of film, reflection, and remembrance.

The Ring is more than a family drama — it explores how Holocaust memory continues to shape the lives of children and grandchildren of survivors. This concept, called “transgenerational effects,” shows how trauma and resilience are carried forward through families and communities.

During the Holocaust, attitudes toward Jews ranged from indifference to hostility. Yet, a small minority risked everything to uphold humanity — hiding Jewish families, forging false papers, and helping others escape.
Known today as The Righteous Among the Nations, their bravery reminds us that even in the darkest moments, ordinary people can make extraordinary choices.
