Kayak fish the quinebaug and west thompson lake - Take 2

Kayak fish the quinebaug and west thompson lake - Take 2

Details

An easy paddle if the river drains down to normal. Put in at the West Thompson launch and if the weather is good, paddle north and up into the river. At some point we always ground out, usually just past the Ramsdell Ponds if the flow is normal. Then we usually take the current back fishing the river and the wind blowing south on the lake until we return to the launch. Bring food, water, rope, whistle, flashlight, wear your PFD. I bring a med. lite spinning rod with assorted spinners and a med. spinning rod to troll a rapala on the lake. By the third week of May the transition from trout to smallmouth bass will be increasing as the water temps rise. Plenty of scenery, panfish such as bluegill, yellow perch, black crappie and an assortment of other species such as typical river shiners can hit. Worse things to do on a Sunday in May and you don't have to be a pro to do this. Im not, its just a good amount of exercise and you might get to see what lurks beneath the surface. Email me on this site with questions, it works. I will post my cell just before the event in case of weather or shorted out GPS's.
