The Gameplay Ability System (GAS) is part of Unreal Engine. It is a great way to handle multiplayer gameplay and interactions. It has replication built in with local prediction, giving you a toolset that can handle loadouts, spells, cooldowns, health, and damage in your gameplay. You can craft abilities in a mixture of C++ and Blueprint, import stats for your characters and weapons from a spreadsheet, and sync your character animations with application of damage and effects. This talk is a short overview of the system and shows how to create a simple game framework using GAS.

Thank you to our new hosts, Disbelief, who have generously donated their space for us to gather in for the evening.
