What we’re about

Welcome to the Boston Area Social Anxiety Meetup...

Social Anxiety (SA) has adversely affected our lives in one way or another and this group brings people with SA together. By joining our group we presume you are struggling with SA in some way. We are a peer only group and do not have any therapists, clinicians, or self-proclaimed experts as members. SA affects people regardless of race, religion, gender, age, or sexual orientation. We are an inclusive group and welcome all who have SA. Most importantly, this group is about community. We all have something in common. We always strive to provide a welcoming environment.

There are two types of activities that we organize: Discussion meetups and Social Activity events. At the discussion meetups , we gather and discuss SA-relevant topics, strategies, and experiences. For the activity events, we venture out into that imposing social world in the form of various fun activities, with the support of our environment at our meetings/events to help people feel more at ease. Participation at an event or meeting is always voluntary. Past events have included ethnic dining, walks, movies, game nights, brunches, museum visits, and hiking. Please note that any member with frequent no-shows or a last-minute cancellations is subject to being changed from the yes list to the waitlist at any event that has a waiting list.

Boston Area Social Anxiety Organizers are not responsible for the well being of any person/member while attending an event. Every member must use their own best judgement and common sense and are wholly responsible for themselves. By joining the Boston Area Social Anxiety Meetup group each member agrees to these rules.

Once you join please check out our activity calendar and message board too. Feel free to participate in anything we do! We try to have fun/interesting activities to do despite our SA. We hope to see you soon!
