What we’re about
Books! we read them then we compare notes. if you're an actual note taker, we love that! we especially love books that have been or will soon be, adapted to the big (or small) screen. members often help choose the books so that we don't get stagnant in our genre choices. and when there are those rare times that we have a free morning, we will meet for breakfast or a movie or an author event.
Guidelines: You don't have to finish the book to join a meeting. we will either convince you to finish the book or make you glad you didn't. That said, we will not protect you from spoilers. perhaps you have to use the bathroom a lot that day! hahaha!
Also,
no room for rudeness or dismissive judgments! whether you think Twilight & 50 Shades were Pulitzer Prize or bonfire worthy, we can discuss it w/o being shitty to each other. Books are stories, either real or imagined and they will hit everybody different based on personal experience and time and place. we want to talk about it not argue.
Introverts are welcome! To my fellow dominant, outgoing personalities, it'll be up to us to ensure the quiet ones don't get lost in the background! While I love to talk, having people go unheard is my abhorrence! if you come to our meeting and dominate conversations, you will hear from me.
FULL DISCLOSURE!!
we are either members of or allies/advocates for the LGBTQIA+, BLM, BIPOC... communities. Know your audience. please message me privately, if you have concerns.
also, I curse a lot, but I am NOT a negative person. I will check people for too much negativity! it isn't that hard to be respectful. if you think that it is, then join another club.
Happy Reading!

GoodReads summary:
# Ammonite by Nicola Griffith
Change or die. These are the only options available on the planet Jeep. Centuries earlier, a deadly virus shattered the original colony, killing the men and forever altering the few surviving women. Now, generations after the colony has lost touch with the rest of humanity, a company arrives to exploit Jeep–and its forces find themselves fighting for their lives. Terrified of spreading the virus, the company abandons its employees, leaving them afraid and isolated from the natives. In the face of this crisis, anthropologist Marghe Taishan arrives to test a new vaccine. As she risks death to uncover the women’s biological secret, she finds that she, too, is changing–and realizes that not only has she found a home on Jeep, but that she alone carries the seeds of its destruction. . . .
Ammonite is an unforgettable novel that questions the very meanings of gender and humanity. As readers share in Marghe’s journey through an alien world, they too embark on a parallel journey of fascinating self-exploration.6 attendees
