Come to a truly retro experience of the way diners used to be!
Welcome to Village Coffee Shop, 890 square feet of reality surrounded by Boulder. If you've been here before, we'll welcome you in by name, and if you haven't, well then, you're what we like to call a village virgin -- but you won't be for long! Since we first opened our doors and got to work cooking all your homestyle favorites nearly 50 years ago, we've been awarded some pretty impressive titles: best diner in Colorado, best hash browns, best breakfast for the slightly hungover, and even best place to feel welcomed to the family. They're titles we're proud of, but it's you, our patrons, who deserve all the accolades. You make this classic neighborhood diner the cool, fun, down-to-earth, one-of-a-kind place it is each and every day. To thank you, we'll keep serving all the dishes you love -- French toast, egg burritos, homemade meatloaf -- for a price you love just as much, and we'll do it all with a smile.

##### History

Established in 1971.
Chuck Tyler, with the help of his father, Bruce, opened the Village Coffee Shop in February of 1971. Nancy Tyler originally worked as a line cook and then when she married Chuck, inevitably married the business also. We all called her "Mamma." No one in all the restaurants in all the world has ever brought more personality to the job than "Mamma." The Village has always been a great place for community. It's inexpensive enough that anyone can afford to eat here on a regular basis -- with a staff that never, ever changes. This is the place where your waitress probably knows not only your name, but also what you usually have for breakfast and whether or not the friends sharing your table today have ever been in before. If we don't notice the Village Virgins, point them out.
