Beneficial Electrification 101: Solar Thermal and Clean Heating Technologies

Join us in welcoming Laurent Meillon, Owner of Capitol Solar Energy, for an overview of beneficial electrification, including a review of modern opportunities to get off gas, the pros and cons of clean heating technologies, and recommendations on the best way to combine them to address your needs.

Discover modern solar thermal systems designed for Colorado weather and homes, including how such systems can slash your heating and hot water bills. Find out more about this often overlooked yet mature and effective technology, and understand how it can interface with your existing water heater, forced air furnace, boiler, baseboard heater or radiant floors, pool, or hot tub.

Laurent will also cover the basics of panel sizing, solar tank sizing, gravity-fed drain-back systems (versus antifreeze systems), and how these systems can retrofit into existing Colorado buildings.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER
Laurent Meillon is the Owner of Capitol Solar Energy, a Colorado specialist in solar thermal technology, design, installation, and maintenance. The company has been fine-tuning its designs to Colorado weather for 40 years. Laurent is a lead author of the Colorado Solar Thermal Roadmap, he serves on the Policy Committee member of the Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES), and previously served as an elected board member, treasurer, and VP of the Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association (COSEIA, now COSSA). He serves as an expert witness in PUC dockets that deal with clean heating and electrification and is active with the Legislature and the Polis energy team. Laurent worked for years on what became the clean heating bill HB21-1238 and its sister bill for heat pumps, which the CO PUC will be applying in the starting Demand Side Management Strategic issues docket.
