This will be our second meeting. Goal: To choose our first book. Please bring suggestions. I have a "beginning" list, but would like us to choose each selection as a group. Politics, U.S. History, World History, History of Political Parties, Biographies of Noteworthy People, Your Suggestions.

FOOD for THOUGHT: They have good coffee and tea, average snacks, really nice art and photos on wall, lots of laptop plug-ins (I am paper-based myself.) Hope to meet you all there!
Some book ideas to consider. Bring any of your own ideas and we will decide on 1 for Jan. meeting.
1. These Truths, by Jill Lepore A history of the U.S. emphasizing the Constitution and political thought and how it evolved. 789 pages, Very well-written. 2018
2. The Gates of Gaza, by Amir Tibon. 290 pages. 2025
3. King of Kings, the Iranian Revolution. 400 pages. 2025
4. Guns, Germs and Steel, by Jared Diamond. Good explanations of how disease has affected world history
5. The Great Influenza. The story of the world's worst pandemic at that time, which occurred around World War I. Includes an interesting history of medical education in the U.S. and how it evolved, and the scientists behind vaccines and other cures. About 300 pages.
6. Killers of the Flower Moon. The story of the murder of Osage Indians of Oklahoma in the 1920s by White men who wanted the oil wells in the region and the birth of the FBI, which investigated the murders. Has been made into a movie.
7.Tom Hartmann's Hidden History series.
8. A People's History of the United States, by Howard Zinn. A good U.S. history that emphasizes the roles played by Native Americans, minorities, women and labor otganizers.
