January Boulder Area Humanist Meeting

Details
It's almost 4th Sunday so almost time to meet again
(not that we couldn't also meet on other dates at other places)
Sunday, January 26, 2020 – 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM
Boulder Public Library - Meadows Branch / Meeting Room
4800 Baseline Rd (but hidden behind Safeway)· Boulder, CO
Let's get together and learn something or teach something or reflect on something in good company.
We will likely have an interesting and flowing discussion continuing our pursuit of “Humanist Principles” / commitments from the pie chart which we've already started on –
The ten Humanist commitments –
https://thehumanist.com/magazine/september-october-2019/features/living-humanist-values-the-ten-commitments
Empathy – Done by Sheryl in October
Critical thinking – Done at Trudy's
And below are those remaining in the order most interesting to me. Though, I would love to hear what order you'd put them in. We'll vote on which to discuss.
Ethical development – Some “humanist” groups call themselves “Ethical Unions”
Altruism – Do unto others?
Responsibility – Social / life / cultural contracts?
Global awareness – Scaling and sharing with the world?
Peace and social justice – overlaps with the others?
Service and Participation – related to responsibility?
Humility – Overlaps with empathy?
Environmentalism – in more open discussion already with Climate Change
And at some point maybe we will discuss the “macro-set” of those “commitments” – the Humanist Manifesto(s) – the “humanist bible” written by identified humans and some you can still talk to.

How would YOU improve upon the Humanist Manifesto(s) today? What would you add or leave out?
I also wouldn't rule out a presentation, completely, though I've not had luck so far in securing any presenters. Some presentations that I'm looking at are –
– Voting systems that don't suck (and provide better results).
– Global population and is it over population and how do we really know?
How do we model population growth (econometric / sociometric modeling)
– Steven Pinker and his annoying optimism
– What other presentations would be appealing to YOU?
Remember, you can always shoot me a direct email at –
