Dön Season Mamo Chants
Details
As we approach Shambhala Day, which this year falls on Wednesday, February 18, we enter a traditional period of practice to mark the end of one annual cycle and prepare for the next.
From February 7 through February 16, all students are encouraged to practice as much as possible in the ten days leading up to Shambhala Day. In particular, we are invited to gather and recite the Mamo Chant together.
Mamo Chant Practice (In Person Only)
February 7–16
• Weekdays: 6:30–8:00 PM
• Weekends: 4:00–5:30 PM (February 7 & 8 and February 14 & 15)
The Mamo Chant is an elaborate protector offering traditionally recited from the 7th through the 16th days of the final lunar month of the Tibetan year. Through this practice, we work to dispel the karmic accumulation of personal, social, and environmental chaos at the year’s end, tuning into the protector principle of awareness and reconnecting with sacred outlook.
Neutral Day, February 17, is the day before Shambhala Day and is traditionally devoted to cleaning and refreshing one’s home and shrines in preparation for the coming year.
This practice is open to all, and there is no charge.
Donations are welcomed and deeply appreciated.
We hope you can join us for this meaningful period of practice as we prepare to welcome the New Year together.
