Food Pantry Trip - Harvest of Hope and Community Food Share Mobile Pantry (NEST)

Details

The best time to start visiting a food pantry is before you are urgently in need of food. You can save money to use for other necessities -- and avoid ever reaching a state of emergency and urgency. Our food pantries hope for exactly this outcome with their visitors, and welcome people to use their service, before, during, and after a time of need.

Many of our TimeBank members are finding Boulder's food abundance to be a welcome gift during this time of pandemic, when prices are rising and incomes are decreasing. It's giving them a chance to catch up on their bills. Several gratuitous food shopping opportunities are NOT based on income, just upon being a Boulder County resident. Food pantries offer a service we are welcome to use and enjoy.

A group of TimeBank members will meet Wednesday morning at 9 am at the Harvest of Hope Food Pantry, 2960 Valmont Road (Between 28th and 30th on the south side of Valmont), to shop. After that we will caravan to Nest Apartments in South Boulder to receive food items from Community Food Share's Mobile Pantry, which is open from 10 to 11 am.

(Note that Harvest of Hope allows for selection of food items. If it is your first time, you will need to fill out some paperwork which may be printed in advance from their website, https://hopepantry.org/services/#signup, or just obtain and fill out the paperwork out on the spot. Bring a driver's license and proof of residence in Boulder County and, of course, wear a mask. Note that you can visit HOH any weekday morning between 9 and 11, best to arrive by 10:30).

(After Harvest of Hope, we will caravan to south Boulder to) Community Food Share's Mobile Pantry at Nest Apartments in South Boulder, near Frasier Meadows, 4990 Osage Drive. They will be there from 10 to 11. You will need your driver's license and, of course, to wear a mask. They will give you boxes of food (no selection). Typically we all park close together and exchange unwanted items. Community Food Share offers their mobile pantry at Nest Apartments twice a month.

You are welcome to join us and participate in this abundance. You can RSVP to let us know that you are coming, or just show up. Typically we have 4 to 5 TimeBank members there. No TimeDollar payment is required for this event.
