Run South Boulder Peak from South Boulder Creek
Details
For Saturday’s run we will be running up South Boulder Peak starting from the South Boulder Creek - West Trailhead.
ROUTE
We will run from the trailhead, straight up South Boulder Peak via Shadow Canyon. The return options will be either an out/back on the same route or a lollipop by including Bear and a descent down Fern Canyon. The distance is around 11-12 miles with 3500 ft of gain. Plan for 4ish hours. Note: Both options are about the same total distance; however, adding Bear will get you more elevation gain.
Anybody wanting to cut it short can simply turn back at any point and make it a shorter out/back. Alternatively, you can easily extend on Mesa for as many additional miles as you need.
LOCATION
No carpool. We'll meet at the South Boulder Creek - West Trailhead at 8:00am, located at 1401 South Foothills Highway, which is on the west side of Highway 93 at Thomas Lane, approximately 0.5 miles north of the intersection of Highway 93 and Eldorado Springs Drive (south of Boulder).
If you need a ride to the trailhead, please add a comment below letting us know where you can meet and perhaps someone can pick you up.
CONSIDERATIONS
Dog friendly.
Forecast is saying snow possible over the next few days, so traction is recommended. Need winter running tips, review this article.
