Based on a remarkable new concept we found of Crux rounds. They refine vb to its essence so we do many reps of VBs concentrated best. It also happens to be the vb 'mean', that simultaneously achieves fast flowing high volleyball fidelity play.

I was totally surprised that the magic number turns out to be 2. But if you think about it all key moments of any game are quick 2pt games (finishes, starts, ties, etc). And one definition of the word 'quick' is essence.

Specifically, we start with 4 doing KoB round robin games to 3 or 7, and when challengers arrive warmed up and ready we default to 2pt Crux rounds. With 8+ players, we add extra courts of 7pt workup game. Hard caps on both.

Other subtle features are that 1) there no limits to the number of successive rounds or games won. If a team can keep winning the they go as long as the can. And 2) no 'stacked' team is invulnerable. It doesn't take much for two errors and the team is off.

It makes for ideal play: perpetual, regular, open welcoming & mixing, convenient, quality competitive ball, (an) &aerobic, no sitting, and more!

Tournaments, leagues, and private games all have their own unique formats so open drop-in pickup can and should have its own format. Especially for a social, team sport like volleyball, which needs lots of good opportunities to play. And this has been working really well for us for the past several years.

The best coaching pedagogy recommends lots of quality reps with doubles and triples. These quick, short games do the trick.
