Lost Lake via Hessie Trail / 4 to 5 miles and about 850 feet EG

This is a great out-and-back winter hike near the small town of Eldora (west of Nederland) with beautiful mountain and lake views. Some parts of the trail are steep and have loose rocks and gravel. We will repeatedly stop to enjoy the views and take a break once we reach Lost Lake at about 9,800 feet elevation. If the trail conditions allow it, we will hike around the lake before heading back to the trailhead.
Be prepared for weather changes that can happen suddenly in the mountains and bring microspikes, layers, water and a snack.

Parking at the trailhead is limited, so we will meet at 9:30 AM at the Park-n-Ride in Nederland and carpool to the trailhead. Please be on time; we will leave no later than 9:35 AM for the trailhead.
