This hike up to the Walker mansion ruins, also known as the Falcon Castle, and the site of his envisioned "Summer White House" offers stunning views of the Red Rocks Park, plains, Denver skyline and Continental Divide.

The mansion, built in 1909 by John Brisbane Walker, was destroyed by a lightning strike in 1918 but the picturesque remnants of the stone walls and chimney are still very impressive. We will also take a short spur trail to what could have been the summer home for the presidents in the style of the castles of Europe. Plans were drawn up for a 22-room, 5 story castle but the funding never materialized. Walker's dream never became reality, and part of the foundation and a marble cornerstone is all that remains from his vision.

Please bring layers, sun protection, plenty of water and a snack/lunch.
