Writers Who Read: What We Can Know - Ian McEwan
Details
December's hybrid meeting—IN PERSON at the Boulder Library Main Branch second floor Flatirons Meeting Room & ONLINE (see link when you register)—is What We Can Know by Ian McEwan (UK, 2025) on Sunday starting at 2:30 pm (for 2 hours).
McEwan's novel begins out the other side of climate change, in 2120 England, which rising seas have turned into a sparsely-populated archipelago. Two historians obsess over a lost poem created for a dinner party of literary luminaries in 2014, and as Robert Hughes has said, “There is no tyranny like the tyranny of the unseen masterpiece.” We, as the poet's contemporaries, can see clearly what future mutations of AI will inevitably misunderstand about the early 21st century.
We ask that all attendees read the entire book in advance of the meeting. More information about other Writers Who Read meetings and our WwR Podcast can be found at: https://WritersWhoRead.com
