May's hybrid meeting—IN PERSON at the Boulder Library Main Branch second floor Arapahoe Meeting Room & ONLINE (see link when you register)—is The Radiance by Ayad Akhtar (USA, 2026) on Sunday starting at 2:30 pm (for 2 hours).

Allan Bloom's seminal work, "The Closing of the American Mind," has fueled debates about the decline of American education and American culture ever since it was published in 1987. Ayad Akhtar's autofiction account of his foray into academia feels like we are dropped directly onto that battlefield, and we're taking fire. Combined with the aftermath of a racially-motivated attack, Akhtar's mind is simultaneously expanded and battered. Mind-bending fiction.

We ask that all attendees read the entire book in advance of the meeting. More information about other Writers Who Read meetings and our WwR Podcast can be found at: https://WritersWhoRead.com
