October Monthly Meeting
Hosted by Boulder Ruby Group
Details
Starting at 6pm, our beginner's track will feature Meeka Gayhart presenting "Git Commits Are Forever: Fun with APIs and Ruby".
The food and beverages will arrive by 6:30pm where you can eat, drink and mingle with your fellow Rubyists for 45 minutes while the rest of the crowd arrives.
Around 7:15pm we'll start our presentations. We are trying a new format with 3 shorter presentations in no specific order:
Brian Buchalter: Module#prepend and the lookup hierarchy for Ruby's method dispatch.
Fletcher Richman (Pivot Desk): Pivot Desk is a Ruby on Rails shop, and use sidekiq to create workers for a variety of different background tasks. He's the main engineer focused on developing our analytics and will showcase a unique implementation that stores an entire csv as the 'value' and a unique string based on date as the 'key.'
Mike Gehard (Pivotal Labs): Software systems require structure, just like buildings, to remain standing. This talk is the start of a conversation about where structure comes from in our software and how we can better support our software as it grows.
