The beginner's track will start at 6:00pm. At 7:15, we will start presentations.

The Beginner's Track presentation will be given by Dana Daldos.

We will be discussing the principles of good software design outlined in SOLID, GRASP, and others. We will discuss the general ideas and see how they apply to Ruby and Rails applications. We will look at some test examples of poor design and see what we can do to improve them using good design principles.

Our first talk of the evening will be Joey Geiger presenting on Docker for Rails development:

How do you setup a development environment for Rails using Docker that works? I'll share some of the ideas I've found online and through trial and error that will allow you to create an effective and fast development environment for Rails using Docker. Topics including https, workers, databases, external tools and testing strategies will be covered.

Our second presenter will be Jon Evans presenting an introduction to ActionCable:

We'll live code an app, exploring how Action Cable enables integrating the real-time capabilities of WebSockets into a Rails application. There will be GIFs.
