Talk 1: But everything works fine on my laptop by Chris Stolt from Anchor

Description:

A short exploration into how browser security contexts cause issues (like mixed content / CORS) that crop up in production but not in your local development, how to catch those issues early using local HTTPS, and what it takes to get local HTTPS working properly.

Bio:

Chris Stolt is a skier, but sometimes he also has to go to work. He has more than 20 years' experience building and running customer support and success teams for developer tools. His previous stints were at GE, Engine Yard, and most recently Heroku, where he built the Customer Success team over a decade. He started Anchor with a friend focused on a mission to make encryption easy and approachable for developers.

Talk 2: Schema-First API Development with Rails and TypeSpec by Patrick Reagan from TestFit

Description:

Are you powering your React app with a Rails backend? Providing programmatic access to your platform for users around the world? How are you keeping your API spec in sync with your application and, what even is an API spec?

In this talk, we'll survey the landscape of tooling available in Rails for interoperability with your clients using the OpenAPI specification and dive into what I think is the most succinct and powerful way of doing schema-first API development: Microsoft's TypeSpec. We'll explore specification generation, validation, and how easy it is to provide generated clients to your users.

Bio:

Patrick is a veteran software engineer with over two decades of professional experience building applications across a variety of stacks, architectures, and industries. He appreciates the perspective being a polyglot provides, but maintains a soft spot for Ruby.
