GLOBAL CONSCIOUSNESS EVENT: 2025 Doomsday Clock 10am EST on TUESDAY Jan 28, 2025

Details
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists will host a live virtual news conference at 10:00 a.m. EST/07:00am PST/1500 GMT on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 to announce if the time on the iconic “Doomsday Clock” will change. The YouTube Livestream announcement will be at youtu.be/oqifSCvzaFI
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1945 by scientists who had worked on the Manhattan Project. Their mission is to equip the public, policymakers, and scientists with the information needed to reduce man-made threats to our existence. They focus on three main areas: nuclear risk, climate change, and disruptive technologies.
The Doomsday Clock is a symbol created by the Bulletin in 1947 to represent how close humanity is to a global catastrophe. The closer the clock is to midnight, the higher the perceived threat. The Clock has been adjusted 25 times since its inception, reflecting changes in global threats. The farthest it has been set was 17 minutes to midnight in 1991, and the closest was 90 seconds to midnight in January 2023 where it REMAINS TODAY.
The Doomsday Clock serves as a powerful metaphor to raise awareness and inspire action on critical issues. It's a reminder of the urgent need to address the threats posed by nuclear weapons, climate change, and disruptive technologies.
From the Bulletin:
"On January 28th, the Bulletin's Science and Security Board (SASB) will reveal the 2025 Doomsday Clock time in Washington, DC.
"For 2025, the SASB will consider multiple global threats in the Clock setting, including the proliferation of nuclear weapons, disruptive technologies like artificial intelligence, the Russia-Ukraine war, Israel-Hamas war, Israel-Hezbollah conflict, bio-threats and the continued climate crisis."
