Hello,

This is your Los Angeles Brain & Consciousness Meetup Group host Karl Simanonok. You haven’t heard from me in a while — and I appreciate your patience. Over the past year I’ve been developing something I’m finally ready to share publicly.

Over the years in our Brain & Consciousness community, we’ve explored some of the deepest questions about mind, awareness, and reality.

Behind all of them sits one unavoidable question:
What happens at death?

Tomorrow (Thursday) I’m hosting the first live Fearless Death Workshop, where I’ll walk through:

• What most near-death experiencers consistently report, and how my own NDE at age 18 ultimately led me to go into science. I did my postdoctoral work at NASA developing cardiovascular countermeasures against the headward fluid shifts and consequent whole-body dehydration that astronauts experience in weightlessness, and slowly over many years developed my Nexus Theory of consciousness.

• The core science of Nexus Theory, which is still the only theory of consciousness among the contenders out there that is end-to-end complete with no explanatory gaps. It avoids mystical language and focuses on coherent reasoning grounded in physics and neurobiology. I’ll explain it in plain English for you though, you don't need to be a scientist yourself. High school students have grasped it. One seasoned consciousness theorist I presented the concepts to agreed with their logic and said “Of course — it has to work that way.”

• A guided experiential exercise enabling you to glimpse what I call “raw” consciousness — perception before ego, associations, and mental overlays drown out the pure signal. Some traditions call this experiencing nonduality. Nexus Theory explains how it works. Your initial glimpses of this phenomenon will be brief, but will open a doorway many spend years trying to access through meditative techniques.

• And most importantly: why, once consciousness is properly understood, death itself becomes nothing to fear — not as belief, but as a logical conclusion that follows from the model. And how that understanding can quietly change the way we live.

This is a live event. I’ll present the framework clearly and directly, and we’ll have about an hour for open Q&A afterward.
